PCM Signal Simulator

In Flight Test measurement systems and especially telemetry systems PCM signals are used to record or transmit measurement data. To test all the equipment needed for the transmission, recording and evaluation of PCM signals a Simulator is necessary. It produces a static or dynamic well defined signal, allowing to test any transmission or evaluation problem.

The presented PCM Signal Simulator is a small, easy to use unit and delivers a wide spectrum of possible PCM Signals. All chosen settings are stored and are immediately available after switch on.

The presented PCM Signal Simulator is a small, easy to use unit and delivers a wide spectrum of possible PCM Signals. All chosen settings are stored and are immediately available after switch on.

Word size up to 16 bit

Main frame length up to 1536 words, maximal 32 Sub frames, maximal 4 sync words

Parity even, odd or none. MSB first or last.

Number of occurence of sub frame words in the main frame.

Bitrate in two ranges: 1-1500 KHz in 1 KHz steps or 1 Hz-10000 Hz in 1 Hz steps.

Beside the Sync Words any word in the main frame can be set to any value within its word size, dynamic outputs like saw-tooth, triangle or sinus are also available.

  • Outputs:

There are two RS422 outputs programmable to output the following signal coding:

  1. NRZ
  2. CLK
  3. Bipase L
  4. Biphase M
  5. Miller

These signal are also available on single ended outputs with TTL level.

For test purpose a main frame puls and a word puls is available.
